Kali wins 2013 Video Slam

Poetry fans voted more than 4000 times in the video slam this year, and more than 1500 of those votes went to this year’s winner, Kali!

Kali is a teacher and spoken word poet. Over the past five years she has taught writing at Virginia Tech, University of Tampa, University of South Florida, and as far abroad as Darmstadt, Germany. After discovering spoken word in February of 2012, Kali also started working with youth poets through high school outreach programs. In addition to her passion for writing and speaking, she has an insatiable hankering for froyo. And has likely been to every self-serve frozen yogurt shop in a 30 mile radius of her home in St Pete.

Here is her winning poem:

We look forward to seeing Kali at the Women of the World Poetry Slam in Minneapolis, March 6-9.
